Chico Experience Research / 2008 – 2009
Chico State's initial impetus for conducting research was to satisfy the WASC accreditation committee's recommendation to better articulate the "Chico Experience" – a positive, yet unclear sentiment expressed by many during the committee's visits to campus.
Discovery Collaborative began by facilitating a Discovery Workshop with Chico Sate leadership. Qualitative and quantitative research was conducted among students and alumni, to identify the unique and compelling aspects of the student experience at Chico State. The final deliverable was a framework for developing meaningful stories that will successfully attract a broader set of prospective students to Choco State, and enhance perceptions among a wide range of constituent audiences.
After its final presentation to WASC, Choco State was reaccredited for 10 years, an exceptionally long period of re-accreditation. Its comprehensive submission – including Discovery Collaborative research results – was lauded by the WASC committee.
